The Safe Way to Remove a Password from a Bank Statement PDF
Bank statements, Aadhaar downloads, salary slips, insurance documents — Indian PDFs love passwords, usually some combination of your PAN, name and date of birth. Typing it every single time gets old fast, and forwarding a locked file to your CA means sending the password alongside it.
The obvious search is "remove PDF password online free." Here's the problem with most results: they upload your bank statement to their server. You're sending a document containing your account number, balance, transactions and address to an unknown company, along with the password to open it. Even if they delete it as promised, it traveled.
The local alternative
The PDF Unlocker does the decryption inside your browser with JavaScript. The file and the password are processed on your own device — nothing is transmitted. You can verify this yourself: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and it still unlocks.
- Open the tool and drop in the locked PDF (several at once if they share a password).
- Type the password — there's a show/hide toggle to check for typos.
- Click Unlock & download. You get
filename-unlocked.pdf, which opens anywhere with no password.
What this tool deliberately doesn't do
It will not crack a password you don't know. You must have the legitimate password — the tool removes the inconvenience, not the security. This matters: it's designed for your documents.
One trade-off to know
The unlocked copy is rebuilt from rendered pages, which removes encryption reliably across every PDF variant — but the text isn't selectable afterward. For printing, sharing and record-keeping that's irrelevant; if you need the data in a spreadsheet, use Bank Statement to Excel on the original (it reads locked-then-unlocked files fine, also locally).
